Please join us for Pink Friday ...

I love winter ~ long January days where the snow stretches until it blends with the low white clouds. No definition of distance, just shadows to foretell what is to come. Winter is clean, cold and refreshing. Snowy whites and creamy ivory swirl together creating a sense of calm. The air is still. The whole world seems at peace. As nature rests under a blanket of snow, time is spent in thought. There are books to be read, journals to be written, rooms to refresh, plans to be made for the garden. But nothing needs to move to fast. We have time. Winter is here and we can take things slow, time to relax and get lost in dream world of all white.
In January I always want to paint everything in the house a shade of white or ivory, maybe even beige or pale gray thrown in for interest. It is not cold and stark but rather clean and cozy. A late evening fire in a winter white room gives each item a glow~ the shadows are soft and relaxing. Plush white linens and fragile ivory lace beckons gentle serenity. A well appointed bed with piles of winter white linens topped by a cashmere throw just tempts me to open the window and listen for the stillness brought on by a blanket of snow.
Then, just when one thinks the winter will never end; brave flowers peek up through the snow, the Jonquil, the Lenten Rose and the Prairie Pasque Flower. Their delicate flowers even more precious against the white snow, and the season begins to change.

Well I am back home for a while I hope. I kind of feel like the weeks since Christmas have been a whirlwind. I was in Atlanta for the Gift Mart for four days, home for three, off with friends and family to Vermont for three days, had a few snow days for the kids, then off the NY for the Gift show for two days. Whew! I am a little tired today! I think I need to start a calender and really stick to it. I seem to get lost on the computer or cleaning the house when I should be doing other things like finding time each day to actually work! I paint furniture for our shop and for custom orders. I definitely need to find a way to become a little more efficient and disciplined to be more productive.

Anyhooo ... I have lots of really fun and unique products arriving over the next few weeks from the shows. Please stop by Cottage Flair and take a look when you have a minute. I just listed a few chandeliers that are just gorgeous and, I think, priced well. I almost fell over seeing the prices of chandeliers at the markets! I also have candle chandeliers coming and lots of other goodies: vintage inspired Easter decor, white iron items, beautiful hankies, gorgeous vintage looking jewelry, fun crystal ornaments, floral wreaths, and honestly, lots more that I just can't think of right now!
Thanks for visiting ...

Pink Friday is here again ...

The year 2009 promises to be full of fun and exciting themes for your shopping pleasure. Won't you join us each Friday as Make Mine Pink presents Shopping with a Twist?
I’ve never seen a rose that I didn’t love. From the first tender blossom of early spring, gently swaying in the breeze, to a beautifully and painstakingly stitched needlepoint, rich in history, I adore them all!
Roses represent so many different things to each of us and are often used to celebrate special occasions such as weddings, births and anniversaries. Roses have also been used throughout the centuries in grand estate as well as small cottage gardens, many styles of home décor and of course fashion. Milliners used silk roses to embellish the finest hats, while seamstresses stitches the richest brocade drapes adorned with roses.
Throughout the years, famous artists have studied and painted every aspect of the rose. Antique lithographs and modern impressionistic paintings inspired by the great rose artists from the 1800s, grace our homes today with their everlasting beauty. Roses continue to gracefully fit every lifestyle and décor.
If you have a soft spot for roses as I do, won’t you please join us for PINK FRIDAY at Make Mine Pink on Friday January 23rd as The boutiques at Make Mine Pink present “Romantic Roses.”

I got back from Atlanta last week and then turned around and was off to VT for the holiday weekend. Atlanta was a very successful trip. One of my main goals was to find some new chandeliers and I was lucky enough to find exactly what I was looking for. A few arrived at the shop yesterday so I will photo them and get them up asap. My sister lives in Atlanta so that adds some fun to the trip ... A LOT of eating out! Overall, we had a great time and found some fabulous new goodies for our site. I will post them as they arrive ...

Great vintage inspired Easter decorations, electric and candle chandeliers, new jewelry, and so so much more. I can't wait until it all gets here!

I always feel so rejuvenated and inspired when I return. We're hoping to find some great new lines and products. I'll be back on Tuesday evening, hopefully with a whole lot of orders written!

With the arrival of 2009, I have decided to take some time today to revamp, renew and redesign my vision board. I started it last year and never did much with it. I would post a photo but it's too embarassing. I just read some exerpts from Joyce Schwartz's The Vision Board Book and I am completely inspired. I had read The Secret a while back and it really changed my thinking. I am a very visual person so I know a vision board would be perfect for me. I want to post my life and business goals for the new year in my office. (which of course needs a serious cleaning). But ... I am ready. 2009 is going to be a year of changes for me! Success is the only option!
Happy New Year!
