Show and Tell Monday

Show and Tell Monday ... I first would like to show and tell my newly designed blog ... I love that it now matches my website.
Then, I had a few minutes this weekend to run to a town flea market with my son Josh. We were really looking for a bike for him. Our local ABC chapter has lots of bikes for sale and all of the proceeds support the ABC program. He got a great bike and I was lucky enough to be able to look around myself and find a few treasures. I could not pass up this lovely collection of vintage hankies and butter pat (although the woman selling it called it a ring dish). She presented it all together in a box and I had to have it (great marketing!!!). I found a cute little floral dish and a teapot caddy as well. That would have been great last Friday!! ( These items are listed on my site today). I also picked up two fantastic tables to paint and a mirror. I'll show and tell those when they are done. Thanks for visiting ...

Newly Designed Blog

My family and I have been camping since Wednesday. (Camping isn't really my thing and it's only 10 minutes from home so I have been popping in and out). Anyway, I just got home to check my computer and got a wonderful surprise ... Cathy from Avalon Rose Designs put up my new blog that matches my website! I feel official now... I just love it. Thanks for visiting ...

Show and Tell Monday

Show and Tell Monday:

This week and weekend I spent finishing up two custom orders that I had to get done. The first is a child's rocker for a nursery. The client gave me the wallpaper border to match colors and patterns but also gave me the freedom to do my thing. The second custom order is a full size rocker to be an end of the year teacher gift for a first time Kindergarten teacher. Other than the wording on the seat, I was able to choose the colors and patterns. These two pieces are examples of the kind of painting I did for many, many years but have kind of gotten away from. I have done three full rooms in three different show houses with this kind of furniture, one was even published in Better Homes and Gardens Kid's Rooms. Most of my painting now is shabby chic cottage distressed furniture. But it's always fun to be able to go back and do a few pieces that take a whole lot more time but allow a whole lot more creativity.

Thanks for visiting...

Show and Tell Monday

Show and Tell Monday....
I learned to sew at a very young age. I think my all time favorite Christmas gift was a sewing machine when I was 9. I used to love to sew clothes and to make gifts for my friends. I really don't have much time anymore to sew. I am usually painting which is my new love but I still enjoy sitting at my machine sometimes. With my home party business (called Flair) I do get a chance to make ribbon belts. They are quick and easy and I just love ribbon. (I buy rolls and rolls just to have around to look at!!). I had a chance to make some belts for our upcoming parties this week that I thought I would share. The styles here plus many more are also listed on my site under "fashion accessories"

Today is a rainy day here in Connecticut which is a complete disappointment. My mother and I have an annual Home and Garden Sale at the shop. We set up a tent in front of the shop with herbs and flowers in all kinds of interesting containers. The whole lawn is filled with vintage treasures and antiques. We run a sale throughout the whole shop. Every shopper leaves with a free herb plant. The sale starts this a.m. and it's pouring with intermittent thunder and lightning. And... today is field day for my son at school!! I hope it lets up sometime. Wish us luck!

Comments on Show and Tell Monday... My show and tell is below this post....

Today was my third Show and Tell Monday. I am relatively new to Make Mine Pink and very new to blogging. I just had to post tonight about how wonderful it is that everyone from MMP takes the time to view and comment on each other's blogs. I have come away the past few Mondays feeling so good because I had so many visitors with such encouraging and wonderful comments. It is so inspiring to see such a large number of ladies working together and encouraging each other. I am not one to get involved with groups of women but how could anyone stay away from this amazing bunch??? The support and encouragement is something to behold and very rare these days. I am so happy to have found MMP and to be involved in all of these fantastic opportunities.
Show and Tell Monday:
Come Mondays I often won't have any new products to show because I mostly work on large pieces of furniture. I work on what I call an assembly line ... sanding many pieces, then priming, etc. Today I am posting photos of our shop, The Nosey Goose, in Madison, CT. We are in a lovely old house on a beautiful little street in town. We have nine rooms filled to the brim with shabby chic and cottage style furnishings, vintage items, antiques, home decor, unique gifts, baby, and so much more. I just took a few photos to give everyone an idea of what the shop is like. Thank you for visiting ...
